Username FAQs (I've forgetten my username!)

Follow

I'm getting an 'Invalid Username' message when creating a new account. What can I do?

This message may be only occurring with Internet Explorer. We recommend trying to create a new account with a different web browser (Firefox, Chrome, etc.). In some occurrences, waiting up to 30 minutes and retrying may also resolve the issue, but be sure to review the "USERNAME/PWD CREATION RULES" section below.

Is it possible to change my Username?

Who do I contact if I forgot my Username?

If you have forgotten your Username, you can be sent an email listing all of the Turbine account Usernames that are associated with the email address you provide. To do so, perform these steps:

1. Visit https://myaccount.turbine.com and click on ‘Forgotten your Username?’

2. Enter the email address that you believe should be on file with your Username

The system will now email that address a list of all Usernames it finds with that email address on file.

Some items to note:

  • If your Username has an older email address on file that you no longer have access to, you will need to submit a ticket to our Account Support Team. Need assistance? Contact our Support Team by clicking here.
  • When contacting Account Support, fill in as much information as you can recall about the account and be sure to provide a currently valid email address for them to be able to send a reply to. In the email, please include the older email address (or addresses) you believe might be on file with the account.
  • When accessing https://myaccount.turbine.com, be sure to use Internet Explorer 6 or higher (if using I.E. 8, put it into “Compatibility Mode” via the button at the end of the “Address Bar”) or Firefox 2.0 or higher. (The Turbine sites currently do not support Safari, Opera or Chrome).
  • After you contact Turbine Account Support, be sure to log into your email provider’s “web” interface to check your “Spam” or “Bulk/Junk” mail folders.  T
  • You will only be sent the list via email; it will not display on the web page. Please be very sure that you are entering the correct email address and that it is spelled/formatted correctly.

Is the Username and Password I use to log in to https://myaccount.turbine.com going to be the same as those I will be using when logging in to the game client?

Yes, your Username and Password will be the same as the one you use to login to the account management website.

The Username and Password combination you have entered was not valid. Remember that password is case sensitive. [err: -4] "The username and/or password provided is incorrect, please try again. Username and password are case sensitive."

If you are receiving this message, either the Username and/or Password are incorrect. Please make sure that you are entering the correct Username and Password for your account. Your Username will be found in your account creation confirmation email.

If you have forgotten your password, click on the "Lost your password?" option underneath the password entry window on the game launcher. If the email address associated with the account is no longer accessible, please contact Turbine Account Support.

The Username entered does not have an active subscription. Please try another username. The system was unable to retrieve your account information at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try again later.

If you are receiving this error message, please contact Standing Stone Games Account Support.

If you delete or rename your launcher user settings file ("launcherusersettings.xml" it should clear out the stored names.

This file can be found at the appropriate location below:

Windows XP:
"C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Windows Username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Turbine\The Lord of the Rings Online\Launcher"

"C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Windows Username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Turbine\Dungeons and Dragons Online\Launcher"

Windows Vista/7:
"C:\Users\<Your Windows Username>\AppData\Local\Turbine\The Lord of the Rings Online\Launcher"

"C:\Users\<Your Windows Username>\AppData\Local\Turbine\Dungeons and Dragons Online\Launcher"

You can also request the deletion of inactive subscriptions from your subscription list at myaccount.turbine.com and the game launcher.
